Integrating conflict prevention and peacebuilding into UN development assistance framework

This discussion paper reviews the nature of UNDAF, looks at some experiences in Rwanda and Sri Lanka that illustrate the problems presented above, and summarizes the essentials of effective conflict prevention and peacebuilding practice. The paper also identifies the main issues that need to be addressed by international assistance actors and suggestes a realistic perspective on the UNDAF as a mechanism for peacebuilding.
